Rock of Ages: Major touring show comes to Wellingborough theatre

Written by on June 8, 2022

The entertainment industry has been massively affected by the coronavirus outbreak but as rules have eased, entertainment venues have been able to open once again.

Last night was the opening night of ‘Rock of Ages’ at The Castle Theatre, Wellingborough, and Charlie and I were lucky enough to be invited to this spectacular event.

The show, full of high-energy performances and hilarious comedy is running from now until Saturday 11th June in Wellingborough and you won’t be disappointed.

X-Factor Champion, Matt Terry takes to the stage as bad-boy rockstar Stacee Jaxx and Coronation Street’s, Kevin Kennedy returns as Dennis Dupree.

This show is the first of many major touring shows that will be visiting The Castle Theatre this year and Martin Cleverley, Manager of the theatre hopes that this is the beginning of something great for the establishment.

It is also the start of many great changes for the Wellingborough theatre, which was taken over by Parkwood back in 2019.

Through the coming months, they are hoping to be able to offer youth theatre groups and classes as well as groups for adults with disabilities.

The starting date for these groups is yet to be confirmed but will be a great move for the theatre and the local community.

The Castle Theatre opened in 1995 as a community resource organisation and has flourished over the last 28 years, but this will be the first time that the theatre has taken the plunge into organising these types of groups.
