One of our key commitments to the community of North Northamptonshire is to provide training and employment opportunities to young people. Shire Sounds Radio are also passionate about creating the future’s radio & TV presenters.
Do you see yourself as the next Scott Mills or Aimee Vivian? Then the Shire Sounds Radio Training Academy is for you.
We provide an entry point with directly transferrable skills into the community & commercial radio industry with our 12 week training programme for those under 18.
Over the 12 weeks you’ll learn how to;
- Key communication skills for the workplace and with customers
- Computer skills, including Microsoft Office & our industry standard playout software
- Interview & Production skills
- Prep a show to a community radio standard
- Be taught by one of North Northamptonshire’s best vocal coaches, learning correct posture and how to get the best out of your voice in front of the microphone.
The course is delivered by previous graduates, a qualified teacher and is overseen by the stations senior management team, giving you real world work experience mixed with practical sessions & classroom based learning all whilst having fun at the same time! The entire Shire Sounds team will look after you during your time with us, giving you the very best training experience in broadcasting possible in North Northamptonshire.
At the end of the 12 week training program, students will then have the option to complete 12 weeks on air under the supervision of the senior team & previous graduates. You will continue to receive on air training and support with vocal coaching, and, where possible you may be offered a permanent position to join the full time Shire Sounds Radio schedule.
